Collabor-action (noun) – working together to deliver against an impactful common purpose

Breaking down barriers to collaborate effectively can be one of the toughest obstacles for professionals in the modern era. We’re often also faced with the question on who’s responsibility it is to break down those barriers. We therefore ask the questions, if it’s not you, then who? If it’s not now, then when?

The recent cross-sector collaboration between the private, public, and voluntary sectors to support Ukrainian refugees arriving in Scotland is a great example of a team of people working together to break down these barriers for a common cause. Their efforts have made a significant difference to the local community and the Institute’s Scotland Members’ Network is delighted to welcome along an esteemed panel to discuss this inspiring story, and how the lessons learned can apply to multiple projects and roles.

In this session we welcome back Sheena Hales of NatWest Group who previously spoke to us following her award of the British Empire Medal for service to the Finance Industry through her charity work during COVID-19 pandemic. Sheena and her team at Royal Bank of Scotland pivoted their efforts from supporting the local community during the pandemic to supporting displaced Ukrainians arriving in Scotland. Sheena and colleagues across the bank worked closely with contacts in both the Public and Voluntary sector to deliver this successfully, many of whom will be joining us on the panel.

Join Rory McIntyre, former Chairperson of the Institute’s Scotland Members’ Network, as he sits down with our panel to discuss their journey, how this collaboration has worked, and the difference it has made.
